Company: Mate’s Restaurant and Bar

1. Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items including brunch favourites, modern bistro dishes, and seasonal specials
2. Collaborate on menu planning with input on seasonal updates and specials
3. Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting an efficient and positive kitchen culture
4. Estimate food and labour costs, manage inventory, and monitor wastage
5. Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness are upheld at all times (HACCP compliance)
6. Coordinate cooking activities and station workflow during high-volume service
7. Handle prep, plating, and quality control with attention to detail and consistency
8. Oversee food storage, rotation, and handling in line with industry standards

1. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification/experience)
2. Minimum 1-2 years' experience working as a Chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
3. Strong knowledge of modern Australian cuisine, including breakfast and lunch service
4. Excellent leadership and communication skills
5. Proven ability to handle peak periods with calmness and consistency
6. Understanding of stock control, portioning, and food cost management
7. Flexible availability — including nights, weekends, and public holidays
