The Walpole Hotel Motel is situated in the heart of the Great Southern / South West region's natural environment and is an ideal base location from which to explore the picturesque South Coast Region of Western Australia.
The Walpole Hotel Motel has 25 suites and a fully licensed restaurant that offers fantastic views over the Walpole Inlet and a full a la carte menu.
About the position…
Manage this bustling regional hotel motel and licensed a la carte restaurant. You are expected to undertake duties, responsibilities and obligations for the day-to-day operation of the business. Regular tasks will include;
Effective Daily Management
Reservation & Guest Services Management- Oversee the hotel reservation system to ensure an efficient and seamless booking process, minimizing errors and optimizing occupancy rates.
- Manage guest check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints professionally, maintaining high guest satisfaction and resolving issues promptly.
- Supervise housekeeping staff to ensure all guest rooms and public areas meet cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, equipment shortages, and renovation requirements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for repairs, refurbishments, and facility upgrades.
- Oversee daily food and beverage services, including restaurant operations, bar services, and room service, ensuring quality standards and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor compliance with food safety regulations and liquor licensing laws.
- Collaborate with chefs/cooks to plan and modify menus, optimizing costs and maintaining high-quality offerings.
- Implement cost control measures to manage food and beverage inventory efficiently.
- Plan and manage events, including weddings, corporate functions, and community activities, ensuring seamless execution through effective logistics coordination.
- Work with suppliers, entertainers, and event staff to enhance guest experiences and maximize revenue opportunities.
- Organize regular inventory audits for housekeeping, kitchen supplies, and bar stock to prevent shortages and wastage.
- Monitor budget expenditures, manage supplier relationships, and negotiate cost-effective purchasing agreements.
- Maintain financial records, including revenue reports, payroll processing, and cost analysis.
- Ensure full compliance with Australian health and safety regulations, including liquor licensing, workplace safety, and food handling requirements.
- Conduct staff training on regulatory compliance, emergency procedures, and responsible service of alcohol (RSA).
- Implement security protocols to safeguard guests, staff, and property.
- Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping, kitchen, and front desk staff, fostering a professional and customer-focused work environment.
- Develop performance review programs, provide feedback, and implement staff incentive programs to enhance retention and productivity.
- Allocate staff resources efficiently to optimize service delivery during peak and off-peak seasons.
About you…
This is a broad and demanding role, in addition to having a track record in fulfilling the daily tasks, successful applicants will need to meet the following requirements;
Key Requirements:
- At least one year of closely related work experience in a regional Australian hotel or restaurant
- At least an Australian Diploma qualification in a relevant major
- Must hold an Approved Manager certification for RSA and RSG
- Australian driver's licence holders preferred
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English to effectively communicate with local customers and third parties
- Willing to work full-time in a regional area of WA for the long term (at least two years)
