Job Summary: The Utilities Portfolio Lead will oversee a portfolio of projects within the utilities sector, including transmission, substation, and distribution projects. This role involves managing large-scale programs, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.The Utilities Portfolio Lead will act as the primary liaison for clients, providing updates on project progress, costs, schedules, and risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and oversee a portfolio of transmission, substation, and distribution projects for public and investor-owned utilities.
- Manage large-scale programs, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations are met.
- Develop recovery plans to mitigate risks and maintain stakeholder-approved project parameters.
- Monitor program performance using dashboards, KPIs, and other tracking tools.
- Implement quality control processes to maintain high standards in project deliverables.
Stakeholder & Resource Management:
- Serve as the primary client interface, reporting on project progress, costs, schedules, and risks.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among clients, project teams, subcontractors, and internal support teams.
- Supervise and mentor a diverse team of project managers, schedulers, controllers, and multi-discipline engineers.
- Assess and manage staffing requirements strategically, ensuring the right talent mix is available for project demands.
Strategic Growth & Leadership:
- Provide input and influence the strategic growth of the organization.
- Help shape the culture of a dynamic team across the service territory.
- Lead the development and delivery of service offerings.
- Provide insights into new and emerging perspectives. Point of view (POVs) on core service IT offerings, emerging technologies, and practices.
- POVs on Business, Cloud, and Digital Transformations
- Provide patterns, best practices, and white paper on IT strategy and service offering related areas.
- Capture work products, insights gained, and intellectual property created.
- Directly contribute to capability development
- Expand, publicize, and support continuous development through the firm’s knowledge management system, etc.
- Stays informed on developments in IT practices and emerging technologies.
- Actively works to update/upgrade the level of expertise or knowledge.
- Ability to share his/her expertise with others on the team and with the client.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in the utilities sector, particularly in project management roles
- Proven track record of team leadership and talent acquisition
- Deep expertise in commercial consulting within the transmission and distribution (T&D) utility industry
- Strong program and account management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- RFP and Client proposal development.
- Ability to lead and drive compelling business cases and client presentations.
- Contribute towards points of view (POVs) through blogging, white papers, and other thought leadership.
- Lead work streams to aid the development of new business opportunities.
- Conduct market/client research and industry analysis.
- Lead consulting engagements on all levels
- Realizing benefits and meeting the agreed time, budgetary, and quality measures.
- Achievement of revenue contribution and utilization targets
- Contribute to practice and capability development.
