Steves Bar & Cafe, an iconic venue in the heart of Nedlands, seeks talented, enthusiastic and highly motivated chefs to join their award-winning kitchen team. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring food preparation and presentation adhere to Steves high standardsPrep and production of both cold & hot section service
Function prep and production
Upholding policies and procedures with regard to Food Safety & Work Safe
Supervising & mentoring junior team members and apprentices
Assist senior chefs in the planning of menus, calculating production costs and proposed menu pricing
Creating and developing recipes and determining food production and preparation
Demonstrating all cooking procedures, techniques, and presentation of menu items to cooks and junior staff
Overseeing activites of food preparation and storage in the kitchen, dry store, cool rooms and store rooms
Undertake additional on-the-job training for skills, technique and professional development.
The successful applicant must have:
At least 2+ years of similar experience in a busy a la carte kitchenPrior experience in both cocktail and banquet-style functions is preferred but not required
A passion for innovative and modern food
A positive, hands-on attitude, showing leadership, quality workmanship and brilliant presentation in a fast-paced environment
A level-headed nature with the ability to work under pressure
Excellent time management skills
The ability to work a full-time rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef to grow and thrive within an established and well-regarded venue. Remuneration will be between $70,000 and $80,000 p.a. for the successful applicant.
