Daily Tasks- CNC Programming & Setup: Set up machines, create, write, and edit CNC programs using Solid CAM for various machining operations. Monitor and support machine performance to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Process Optimization: Investigate current manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Multi-Axis Machining: Develop and optimize CNC programs for complex 4- and 5-axis machining to improve surface finishes and reduce cycle times.
- CNC Program Optimization: Analyse and refine existing programs to improve tool life, reduce machining time, and ensure efficient material removal.
- Process Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of machining parameters, tool usage, and program iterations for traceability and future reference.
- CAM Software Integration: Stay updated on Solid CAM enhancements to utilize new features and improve programming efficiency.
- Tool & Fixture Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools and fixturing strategies based on material properties and machining requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Perform inspections using precision tools such as callipers, micrometres, and CMM to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and specifications.
- Mentorship & Training: Provide training and guidance to junior machinists and operators on CNC programming, machine operation, and industry best practices.
- Drawing and Manufacturing File Review: Analyse engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and manufacturability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Automation
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field
- A keen eye for detail and quality workmanship
- Must have a thorough understanding of machining processes, equipment technology, shop procedures and how to read drawings
- Skills and experience in the use of CNC Machines (advantageous)
- Knowledge of and adherence to safe working practices desirable
Annual salary: $90,000 - $99,000 + superannuation (38 hours / week)
