About the Role:Primo Foods currently has a fantastic opportunity for a Food Technologist at our facility in Chullora, Sydney. This role assists the Quality Manager to ensure that the quality of all products are maintained by product specifications and legal requirements.
This role enforces HACCP, GMP, and process parameters to ensure safe and quality products are manufactured. The annual salary for this position will be above $70,000 plus superannuation.

Food Safety and Quality SystemAdhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP-001), HACCP, and process parameters at all times to ensure safe and quality products are manufactured
Adhere to and enforce Imported Pig Meat requirements as per Imported Pig Meat Manual
Conduct internal, glass and brittle plastic and GMP audits, bucket walks to ensure quality and food safety management system are effectiveTake part in root cause analysis as part of investigation of external and internal feedback/ complaints.
HACCP team member – audit, and verifications as per schedule or as required.
Assist as per Quality Manager and Quality Coordinator’ s directionDevelops new and improves existing food products, and sets standards for producing, packaging and marketing food.
Undertake basic and applied research into aspects of food processing, qualify , packaging , storage and delivery in order to maintain test and nutritional value
Conduct experiment and recipe testing for product development and improvement
Conduct physio – chemical tests for food products
Actively involved in research and development testing and documentation
Analyse results and experimental data, prepare reports to the stakeholders
Check products for microbial and organoleptic quality to endures products meet regulatory standards and customer requirementsModify existing products and develop new producers, devise the techniques needed to produce and improve quality as directed or resulting from developments in markets or customer direction
Work as back up for Quality Coordinator/ Technologist/ Quality Partner - Systems when required.
Carry out process and product audits at launch and/ or when required
Carry out daily audits within the manufacturing area to ensure that processes and product manufacture is in accordance with the documented HACCP plans and process control procedures and monitor general factory housekeeping
Troubleshooting - assisting production with any product or process quality issues
Implement and coordinate the product hold process
Assess and analyse products identified as possible non-conformances and implement Non conforming Product procedure as required.
Verification of CCPs
Assist with investigations using RCA and respond to internal and external feedback/ complaints, implement preventative and corrective actions when required
Review and sign off of daily in-process check paperwork
Prepare and conduct training for operators in relation to GMP, food safety and CCPs (Induction & Re-fresher) when required
Identify training needs. When required, schedule training and maintain training records for the Quality department
Follow up and verify non-conformance and corrective / preventative action processes and report to Quality Coordinator
Raise and issue Corrective Action Requests and Preventive Action Requests as required
Assist with the collection of retention samples. Oversee the maintenance and participate in the assessment of the retained product
Participate in regulatory and third party audits
Provide technical assistance to other areas of the business as required
Assist Quality Coordinator with use of trend analysis to determent Quality focus
Assist with mock recall and mass balance exercises
Carry out Micro swabs at Pre-Op and/ or operationally
Coordinate and carry out retention sample assessment
Continual Improvement - suggest and implement safety, product and process improvements
Carry out other duties as directed by the Quality Coordinator & Quality Manager

About you: Degree in / Food Science/Food Technology or any other relevant science discipline
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Food IndustryWell-versed in HACCP and its application
Knowledge of Commonwealth, State legislation, Food Standard Code
Knowledge of BRC, and other food standards from major retailers eg. WQA Standards, CFMSR and ALDI’ s
Experience in applying a Food Safety System
