Project Overview:The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the Australian Government that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Timor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. The Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program’s (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with support to enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise the benefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks from labour mobility participation.
Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP on behalf of DFAT.
Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity to work in a highly skilled and professional communications team, the Media Officer will support general communications and administration requirements of the PLMSP and support engagement activities with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Supporting the team, bringing natural creativity and skills to work on basic graphic design, social media management, procurement, proof reading, digital filing and approvals.
This is a fixed term opportunity required for 4 years with possibility of extension.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Media Officer will:
- Assist with special projects, such as process improvements and implementing new policies and communications platforms or channels.
- Provide general administration support to the communication team.
- Develop client and stakeholder relationships internally and externally, liaising with operations and communications teams, all staff and partners to support communications procurement activities.
- Accept and value constructive feedback, support the onboarding and training of peers, and communicate with others in an inclusive manner.
Successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as administration, communications and/or media; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.
- Practical editorial, content or media experience, with demonstrated writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Basic graphic design/presentation skills, e.g. producing and formatting Power Point and Word documents and reports, ensuring documents/content are accessible.
- Good working knowledge of content production using a range of channels/tools and software, e.g. Yammer, Share Point, Microsoft suite, Adobe Creative suite (e.g. Photoshop, In Design).
- Demonstrated administrative experience, ideally including procurement coordination, in a communications, marketing or media environment.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and communicating with a range of stakeholder groups (e.g., the Australian Government, private sector and the general public).
