The Role
As the leader of Zoomo’s finance function, you will report to our CEO and have the opportunity to work closely with Zoomo’s executive team. The finance function supports company strategy, goals, reporting, FP&A, budgeting, capital raising, tax compliance, payroll, commercial finance, and other areas.Expect to work cross-functionally to report on and realize company goals. This position is perfect for someone looking to make an immediate impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Zoomo leaders have a servant mindset when it comes to how we interact with our teams and our customers. Leading candidates for this role will be expected to get their hands dirty on any financial question or project and be willing to work across timezones with our teams in overseas jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including monthly, half-yearly, and yearly closing processes.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly and maintain 100% integrity of financials.
- Manage AP/AR, accounts reconciliation, cash management, and financial reporting
- Optimising working capital
Compliance & Audits:
- Coordinate financial audits, ensuring the timely completion of the annual group audit and UK audits.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Payroll Management:
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Work with HR to maintain payroll-related records and address employee queries.
Taxation:
- Oversee the preparation and submission of annual tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with all indirect taxes (e.g., VAT, GST) across relevant jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain group taxation policies in collaboration with tax advisors.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Drive and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Identify and assess financial risks and opportunities.
- Support cost optimization aligned with budget goals.
Team Leadership:
- Optimize the finance team’s structure, capabilities, and efficiency to meet the demands of a scaling business.
- Lead HR planning, hiring, development and performance management of key people in your team
- Provide vision, motivation, training and support for your team
Strategic Leadership:
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to shape business strategy and drive key initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making, including market expansion, pricing strategies, and cost optimization.
- Partner with Product and Tech teams to enhance financial capabilities on company platforms.
- Interact with and represent Zoomo with external partners including banks, auditors, accountants and lenders
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA preferred; CPA considered).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years in accounting, with 2+ years as a Financial Controller
- Ideally experience in a hard-asset business.
- Sound understanding of IFRS/GAAP and accounting principles.
- Expertise in tax compliance, including local legislation in Australia and at least two other regions (ideally EU/UK).
- Proven leadership in managing accounting teams, payroll operations, and financial operations.
- Strong experience in financial analysis, modelling, and budgeting.
- Excellent communication and people skills
