About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent
agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and
services. The NDIS Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers
in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and
Accountability Act 2013.
About the Division
The Regulatory Operations Division (the Division) delivers core regulatory functions
including registration of NDIS providers, oversight of the Approved Quality Auditor (AQA)

scheme, oversight of the national worker screening arrangements, compliance monitoring

and enforcement. It is also responsible for the delivery of targeted regulatory campaigns, risk and intelligence, operational policy, quality improvement, Indigenous and Remote

Operations and has a small team undertaking an operational assurance and review

function.

The Division has four branches and a small office supporting the Deputy Commissioner:

  • Market Operations
  • Regulatory Campaigns and Projects
  • Compliance and Enforcement
  • Operational Assessment

The NDIS Commission’s core legislative functions are to:

  • uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of, people with
disability receiving supports or services, including those received under the National
Disability Insurance Scheme
  • develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for people
with disability receiving supports or services, including those received under the
National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS providers
and people with disability
  • secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and
enforcement arrangements, including through the monitoring and investigation
functions conferred on the NDIS Commissioner by legislation
  • promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers and the delivery of
progressively higher standards of supports and services to people with disability
  • develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework
relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and services to
people with disability
  • engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the objects of
the relevant legislation, and
  • provide NDIS market oversight, including:
 I.  by monitoring changes in the NDIS market which may indicate emerging risk;and

II. by monitoring and mitigating the risks of unplanned service withdrawal.

About this opportunity
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner is recruiting a highly capable and driven individual

as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, Regulatory Operations.

As EA, you will be a representative of the office you will be working across the Commission
and external government agencies to support the work of the Deputy Commissioner.

As such, strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential to the position.

This opportunity includes but is not limited to calendar management, preparation of
correspondence, organising meetings and related briefing packs, arranging and acquitting
travel, inbox management, and record keeping in line with relevant Acts and office policy.
At the APS 5 level you are generally required to undertake work that is moderately complex
to complex in nature and operate under limited direction. You will have increased
accountability for organising workflows and making decisions independently relating to your
area of responsibility.
Key duties of the role
  • Providing executive level support to Deputy Commissioner, including but not limited

to: o managing and organising the Deputy Commissioner’s inbox and associated

mailboxes, calendar and appointments, and drawing their attention to urgent
matters
o preparing agendas and collating materials and documents for meetings to
ensure the Deputy Commissioner has all required information and material
for meetings including printing and preparing briefing packs
o preparing correspondence (e.g. emails and letters) under the guidance of the
Executive Officer
o forward planning of regular meetings and committees
  • Engaging with and providing support to the Executive Officer as required.
  • Participating in projects, initiatives and general administrative tasks as directed, to
support the delivery of Divisional work, including but not limited to:
o distributing information and correspondence, preparing meeting agendas, record keeping, monitoring action items and tracking correspondence
o strategic coordination, administrative and secretariat support for projects
and key meetings
o general management of meeting rooms for events and meetings, including
catering, preparation and pack up
o working with internal staff to ensure that all correspondence, briefings and
papers are managed appropriately, and deadlines are met
o coordinating travel arrangements and undertaking financial management
activities including credit card reconciliations and travel acquittal as required

o liaising with other teams on administrative tasks.

Our ideal candidate will have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a high level of professionalism, discretion and interpersonal skills. They will have good attention to detail and strong

organisational skills.

Additionally, you have the ability to take direction and work autonomously, in a hybrid

environment.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Experience
  • Experience in a similar role is highly desirable;
  • Candidates must be based in Melbourne.
Employment suitability requirements
All NDIS Commission personnel are required to meet employment suitability requirements

prior to, and throughout, their employment.

Pre-employment

To be considered in this role, candidates will need to:

  • be an Australian Citizen, and
  • have a favourable National Police Check, and
  • have or be willing to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting security clearance. Should
business need arise, be willing to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 or

  • complete an NDIS Commission external influences and associations declaration form.
