Job Overview:We are seeking a Temporary Risk Manager to join our team in Sydney. The ideal candidate will have extensive financial services experience and a strong background in operational risk management. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to risk management activities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Risk Manager will play a key role in assessing, managing, and mitigating risks across the organization, ensuring that all activities align with the firm's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk control self-assessments (RCSAs) within customer and operations.
- Evaluate and manage potential risks in line with the organization's risk appetite and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Foster effective communication with the first line of defence and senior management to facilitate the understanding and management of risks across the business.
- Provide guidance and support to various business units to ensure effective risk management is integrated into their plans and activities.
- Represent the Risk function on relevant project and governance groups as needed.
- Offer subject matter expertise to the business in developing and implementing risk management strategies and practices.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in Line 2 operational risk management, with hands-on experience dealing with RCSAs.
- Exposure to the development and implementation of the risk appetite statement (RAS), with the ability to assist in its development.
- Prior experience in the financial services industry, particularly in insurance, banking, or superannuation is preferred, though other financial services backgrounds will be considered.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams across various levels of the organization.
- A solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and the ability to manage risk in a way that aligns with regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to provide actionable insights and develop practical risk management solutions.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in financial services sectors will be viewed favourably, but not required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
