Grand Central Hotel is located in the heart of Brisbane City
Grand Central Hotel is seeking to employ an experienced Chef who is passionate about delivering exceptional experiences for our guests. To be successful in this role, you will need strong people management, training skills and a strong understanding of both front and back of the house.We expect you to lead by example and motivate the team to achieve great results in a fast-paced environment.
A minimum of two years Chef experience would be highly regarded.
Responsibilities including, but not limited to, are as follows:
Lead and guide your team to achieve great results in a fast-paced environment.Raise the bar in the quality and consistency of the food and its presentation
Ensure all communication – verbal and written – is professional and reliable
Staff rostering, food ordering & stock control
Periodically review menus to ensure profitability and market relevance
Evaluate current operational methodologies and implement effective solutions to improve efficiencies
Work with the Head Chef to create and implement F&B function & catering packages, including menu design, costings etc
Collaborate across all business functions and drive delivery of operational outcomes
Work with the broader Management Team to promote the venue as a premier dining destination
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Experience working as a Chef across all areas of foodservice including lunch & dinner – including different cuisinesExperience in catering & functions environments
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead, motivate and develop a small team
Pride and passion in your cooking and finished products
Solid understanding of food costs, cost control, wage costs, stock ordering and stock rotation
Appropriate culinary and trade qualifications
Excellent organisational & problem-solving skills
Personal presentation and communication skills are imperative, along with a positive energy and attitude
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word & Excel)
This is a full time role starting immediately and reporting directly to the Venue Manager. We are seeking candidates that have impeccable time management and professionalism, plus the ability to work weekends and evenings is a must.
