Job Title: Sous Chef
Location: Tipo 00 – 413 Darling St, Balmain NSW 2041
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: $73,507.20 per annum
Supervise daily kitchen operations and support kitchen team members
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP compliant)
Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management
Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development and seasonal updates
Maintain consistency in presentation, portion control, and quality assurance
Provide training and guidance to junior staff
Take leadership of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
Deep knowledge of authentic Italian cuisine and traditional cooking techniques
Experience with wood-fired pizza ovens is highly regarded
Leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with food safety regulations and HACCP principles
Formal culinary qualifications or relevant apprenticeship preferred

Job Description:
Tipo 00 is seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at our renowned Italian restaurant and pizzeria. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, hygiene, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the preparation and cooking of traditional Italian dishes including fresh pasta, risotti, antipasti, secondi, contorni, and wood-fired pizzasSupervise daily kitchen operations and support kitchen team members
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP compliant)
Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management
Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development and seasonal updates
Maintain consistency in presentation, portion control, and quality assurance
Provide training and guidance to junior staff
Take leadership of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
Prepare pasta diches , catering for functions, salads, desserts etc.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Chef de Partie in an Italian restaurant or pizzeriaDeep knowledge of authentic Italian cuisine and traditional cooking techniques
Experience with wood-fired pizza ovens is highly regarded
Leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with food safety regulations and HACCP principles
