Our client is a Melbourne-based, venture capital funded biotechnology company, developing innovative medicines for chronic inflammation. Acknowledging the inherent challenges of early-stage drug discovery, they are building a team who value hard work, persistence, inclusivity, open-mindedness, and enjoy a challenge.
In doing so, their goal is to advance their RNA therapeutics technology and create new treatment options for difficult-to-treat inflammatory diseases.

The Role

You will complete experiments and generate high-quality data towards the advancement of our client’s preclinical program, which will include:

 •  Applying a broad range of molecular, protein chemistry, cell culture, and biochemistry techniques to examine the effects of RNA therapeutics on cells, tissues, and eventually animal models.
 •  Handling and maintaining primary cells and established cell lines, to help optimise cell-based assays and contribute to the development of new cell-based screening assays.
 •  Collecting, organising, and analysing experimental data using various software tools and statistical methods and assisting the interpretation and reporting of results.
 •  Working closely with the Principal Scientist to establish and manage a research laboratory, including procurement of consumables, kits, reagents, and equipment.
 •  Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining risk assessments and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory activities and equipment operations. The Requirements
 •  Bachelors, Masters or Tertiary-level post graduate qualification in cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related discipline.
 •  Hands-on experience conducting molecular and cell biology techniques using in vitro and in vivo models commonly used in development of RNA therapeutics.
