Job Description

Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Accountant will form part of the Group Tax team in Australia. The person will play a key role in ensuring tax compliance and will contribute to precise financial reporting, effective tax planning and risk mitigation.
A key focus will be with Perenti's group tax effect accounting.Key responsibilities

 •  Tax effect accounting for the group including half-year and annual reporting;
 •  Preparation and timely lodgement of all Australian tax compliance obligations including income tax, BAS and FBT returns;
 •  Maintenance of the Australian tax fixed asset register;
 •  Ad-hoc tax projects across the Perenti Group;
 •  Tax budgeting and forecasting process for income tax expense and cash tax paid;
 •  Assisting with the implementing of group tax procedures;
 •  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance tax compliance and process efficiencies

The Successful Applicant

Education/Qualifications:

 •  A degree in Commerce, Accounting, Taxation or a relevant field
 •  Studying towards CA/CPA qualification

Experience/Knowledge:

 •  Demonstrated experience in Australian tax compliance preferred
 •  Big 4 or in-house tax experience within a large multinational organisation are highly regarded
 •  Exposure to tax software including income tax, GST and FBT preferred
 •  Exposure to Pronto/SAP ERP system preferred

Skills:

 •  Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and understand stakeholder needs
 •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve tax issues effectively.
 •  Adaptability and willingness to learn, with a proactive approach to changes in tax legislation and regulations.
 •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
 •  Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
