Professional Learning Leader

Stile Education | Melbourne | Full-time | apply.workable.com |
Young people all over the world deserve a world-class science education.

In today’s digital age, it’s crucial for students to not only navigate the sea of information on social media but to become equipped with the critical thinking skills and tools needed to solve the big issues of tomorrow. Great science classrooms are about just that.

More than 1 in 3 Australian secondary schools use Stile’s science curriculum to explore and analyse the science behind the big issues facing us globally. Stile empowers teachers with everything they need to deliver a relevant, engaging and rigorous science education for their students with videos, lesson plans, questions, simulations, activities and more.

But we need your help, because there’s so much more we can do to support our hard working teachers.

We need your passion for pedagogy and science to support school leaders in enhancing education through science classrooms across Australia.

There is a substantial and growing body of research demonstrating that the provision and use of high quality curriculum materials in schools has a significant positive impact on student outcomes. The effect is amplified by specific, directed professional learning to support teachers in the adoption of high impact teaching strategies incorporated into those high quality materials.

As a Professional Learning Leader, you’ll work with a team of writers, designers, videographers and experts in the field to redefine what science Professional Learning looks like and develop a suite of comprehensive Professional Learning resources.
The resources will enhance teacher practice, in order to improve students’ progress, achievement and engagement in science.

Stile PL is ‘serious about science’, but also engaging and enjoyable for teachers. That’s right – your challenge is to make P.L. that is not only practical and useful, but also FUN for teachers.

You will also leverage your deep understanding of science education to develop and deliver a range of community events designed to foster collaboration, networking, and professional growth among Stile teachers.

Here are some of the things you’ll be doing to help revolutionise science education:

 •  Designing and delivering a range of Professional Learning Experiences for teachers and school leaders.
Whether it be a webinar, an in-person event, an online learning module, or a conference; you’ll spend your days crafting impactful experiences to enhance teacher practice. You’ll build these experiences from the ground up (along with an awesome team of other teachers, designers and videographers).

 •  You develop impactful ways to support schools to implement high quality instructional materials.
High quality instructional materials have a big impact on student learning, but asking teachers to change practice is hard. You know how to support schools and teachers through this process, and you’re passionate about improving science education for students as a result.

 •  Continuing to hone your own skills and knowledge.
We’re life-long learners at Stile, so we’re always looking to improve our practice. You’ll find yourself reading up on the latest educational theory, or learning about the latest trends in education technology. You can also expect to spend time peer-reviewing work with your colleagues, ensuring we’re always delivering the best possible service.

 •  Building a community of science teachers.
We want to find ways to bring science teachers together and have them communicate with each other in ways other than through formal Professional Learning opportunities. You’ll be creating unique opportunities and events designed to help teachers network, and celebrate science teaching.

If you’re a science educator looking to have a broad impact outside of the day-to-day of school life for a while, this might just be the perfect role.
