What the day will look like

We are a leading provider of broking and consulting services for risk management, insurance transactions, reinsurance, human capital consulting and financial planning. Aon is a global leader in the design and provision of risk services and products.

We assist clients with the design, implementation, and communication of cost-effective asset protection programs to support their risk mitigation and risk transfer goals. Being a consultant within a world leading insurance brokerage firm we work with a broad range of clients from small businesses to ASX listed companies to larger multinationals across an array of industry’s – energy, mining and resources, education, construction, manufacturing, automotive, property, food and drink, textiles, not-for profits, and government to name but a few.

Responsibilities include:

 •  Performing Property Risk Assessments against local legislation and industry best practices.
 •  Ability to assess the predominant Construction, Occupancy, Protection and Exposure (COPE) elements of an operation.
 •  Reviewing client’s operations against various standards (e.g., NCC – BCA, Australian Standards, FM Global, and NFPA);
 •  Develop complex loss scenarios based on conditions observed during site surveys and calculation of losses including maximum foreseeable loss, probable maximum loss, and normal loss expectancy.
 •  Providing clients with practical and economical risk recommendations that will help them to improve their sites and enterprise’s overall risk profile.
 •  Partnering with Aon broking colleagues to develop and present insurance market submissions to secure best achievable terms and conditions for clients.
 •  Tailoring service offerings to suit the risk management needs and budget of existing and prospective clients.
 •  Coordinating the delivery of Risk Control and Engineering Services for major clients.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
 •  Preferably a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Structural or Fire, or Bachelor of Science in Physics) or other related discipline. We will also consider individuals with an insurance qualification combined with several years surveying experience
 •  Individuals with engineering experience in heavy industry or similar (e.g. project engineers, project managers, reliability engineers, maintenance, commissioning, inspection etc.) will also be considered.
 •  Risk Engineering experience within the insurance industry is preferable but not necessarily considered essential.
 •  Efficient time management, pertaining to vising engineering site visits and collation of reports
 •  Good written & verbal communication skills, detail orientated.
 •  Commercially minded and numerically astute
 •  Intermediate to Advanced Excel and Word skills
 •  High levels of personal motivation combined with a strong work ethic and organisational skills
 •  Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships and to manage a broad range of stakeholders
 •  Experience or knowledge with fire protection systems and natural catastrophe would be advantageous
