Job Purpose:

Work closely with cross functional engineering teams and stakeholders in the design, production, repair, debugging, testing, and commissioning of our world leading software defined autonomous electric vehicles.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Liaise closely with cross functional engineering teams, technicians, and program management to help deliver key technical programs to meet the needs of the business. Participate actively in the delivery of significant vehicle level electrical engineering deployment, debugging, testing and commissioning processes along with design improvement as appropriate.

Key duties include:

 •  Generates a Bill of Material (BOM) and prints for product designs.
 •  Coordinates 3D designs to package components and create 2D vehicle harness drawings – has full design responsibility.
 •  Independently develop professional, manufacturable, wire harness designs.
 •  Interface with vehicle or equipment electrical system designers to ensure basic electrical requirements are understood and implemented.
 •  Develop clear, readable wire harness drawings conforming to industry drafting standards.
 •  Interface with wire harness suppliers to address Design for Manufacturability issues.
 •  Manage wiring harness change.
 •  Design brackets and other mounting fixtures to secure wire harnesses and related electromechanical devices in the vehicle.
 •  Work with team members to trouble shoot the installation of autonomous driving units in vehicle prototypes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

 •  A passionate interest in electric transport and an interest in developing new generations of electric vehicles.
 •  Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the electrical, electronic or automotive industry.
 •  Experience in design of electrical distribution system (EDS) products to meet all system requirements and internal design standards, including high voltage wiring and smart junction boxes.
 •  Experience in design of high Voltage Cables and Connectors and working directly with suppliers.
 •  Experience in design of low voltage wiring harnesses and battery cables.
 •  Hands-on experience designing and building electro-mechanical systems, harnesses, or vehicles.
 •  Demonstrated effectiveness in handling multiple priorities, organizing workloads, and meeting tight delivery timelines.
 •  Experience in developing wire harness routing designs in 3D CAD (Solidworks , Simens NX). This includes ensuring all harnesses are routed safely and securely and properly connect to applicable electrical units and mating harnesses.
 •  Experience in 2D wiring harness drawings. (Siemens Capital highly desirable).
 •  Understanding of vehicle-level systems engineering including communications, functionality trade-offs, grounding and EMC strategies.
 •  Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles, ambiguity and unexpected changes in direction.
 •  Great interpersonal and communication skills.

Education

An electrical/electronic, mechatronic, mechanical engineering or computer science degree, or equivalent experience.

Candidates must have existing full working rights for Australia.

Other Useful Experience:

 •  Technical experience related to electronic systems at a component, sub-system and system level.
 •  Familiarity with, and working knowledge of, mechanical systems: thermal, heat dissipation, vibration, strength, durability, corrosion-prevention, materials, etc.
 •  Additional complementary skills - programming, mechanical design, fabrication, etc.
 •  Experienced with Microsoft Office suite.
