About the Role

The role is based in Sydney and involves shift work.
The 24x7 Data Centre Technician role performs operational activity within the Data Centre. Undertaking scheduled and ad hoc tasks set out by the 24x7 Operations Manager.
The Data Centre Technician performs a large number of remote hands and first level support tasks including installation of customer equipment, cables and cabling infrastructure.
You must maintain a strong customer focus, obsessing over customer deliverables and demanding the highest standards in operational deliverables.

About you
 •  Process driven – administrative duties kept up to date
 •  Able to work independently and trouble shoot customer issues
 •  Experienced in customer IT support or Data floor specialist
 •  Able to deal with emergencies and conflict situations calmly and effectively.
 •  Extensive experience in operational efficiencies and operational process creation and reviews.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for undertaking operational tasks and acts as on-site support for the Data Centre Operations team who are actively engaged in the daily BAU running of our Data Centres. The responsibilities outlined below must be regarded as a representation of their duties which may be more inclusively described as being: “any matter related to the provision of Data Centre services by Datacom to our customers”.

 •  Providing Nightly Batch Services
 •  Providing First Level Support and Troubleshooting to clients
 •  Supporting Datacom’s outsourcing facilities environment, this is not limited to:
 •  Completing all operational tasks:
 •  Ensure adherence to (and documentation of) existing and new standards relating to customer change
 •  Assist with floor capacity reporting & management
 •  Hands on assistance for hosted customers.
 •  Basic rack equipment fault finding.
 •  Basic to intermediate understanding of IT systems & devices
 •  Cleaning Datacom Data Centre (DDC) areas.
 •  Taking and recording deliveries plus all aspects of secure store management
 •  Responsible for ensuring all management systems and documentation are fully up to date (and compliant where applicable) at all times, including but not limited to
 •  DC Applications suite (to be defined)
 •  Cherwell (Ticketing/change)
 •  Cabling documentation
 •  - Provide expertise in racking/cabling (both as hands-on training and via standardising documentation)
 •  Ensuring consistency of standards, processes, and methods of communication are consistent across Data Centres, including recommending or creating standards as required
