Alexandrina Council owns and operates one of the largest water retail businesses in the state of South Australia. The Water Industry's small but dynamic workgroup oversees regional strategic development, capital works programs, maintenance and operations of over $85m in water assets.
This essential service is governed by strict process and quality requirements to ensure service reliability to approximately 10,000 customers.
The water business is undergoing unprecedented growth and this position will play an important strategic role in the advancement of the service provision.
Our team manages the operations of wastewater treatment plants, recycled water schemes and network operations to optimise performance whilst complying with regulatory requirements and meeting cost, quality and customer expectations.
We have a full time ongoing opportunity for a Technical Officer to provide high level technical advice and oversight over industry compliance and processes to ensure effective, efficient and compliant operations. The work will be autonomous and multidimensional, involving direct impacts on business processes, people development, compliance frameworks, technological integration, and infrastructure design.
The incumbent is required to interact with a variety of industry experts, regulators, senior management and field staff in a highly technical and professional manner. Instigating successful communications, compliance integration and technical change management.
Stakeholder engagement and people management skills will be critical to the success of this role.

Reporting to the Manager of Sustainable Resources, key objectives include:
Driving continuous improvement in Water Industry compliance and quality assurance
Mentoring & supporting the regulatory and technical development of internal stakeholders
Leading the development, integration and maintenance of regulatory documentation and reporting
Provide high level technical advice and oversight of treatment processes to ensure effective and efficient operations within Wastewater Treatment Plants and Recycled Water Schemes
Manage laboratory and field testing processes and assets
Key liaison regarding development applications and compliance with standards.
Criteria for assessment will be based on the applicant's ability to address the key responsibilities of the role and how their skills and experience will facilitate strategic improvement within the service.
