Our client is a boutique law firm known for their commitment to excellence and service. They are seeking a proactive and experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial and operational functions of the firm. This standalone role offers the flexibility to work part-time (0.8FTE) with hours tailored to suit your lifestyle.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the firm’s end-to-end financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and trust account compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Present firm's financial position to Directors and attend all board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory obligations, including BAS, GST, and tax reporting.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the firm, ensuring smooth workflows.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts for office services and technology.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Maintain HR records and assist with performance reviews and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal industry regulations, including trust account management and professional indemnity requirements.
  • Monitor and manage risk to protect the firm’s reputation and assets.

About You:

  • Proven experience in a hands-on, senior accounting position ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management and reporting and working closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a keen eye for detail.
