The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is Australia’s premier training ground for future leaders and practitioners in the dramatic arts. Located at Kensington in Sydney, it is a Centre of excellence in education and training. • Preeminent Arts organisation.
  • Broad operational and financial remit.
  • Vibrant, creative, fast paced culture.

The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is the preeminent Arts educator in Australia. Founded in 1958, NIDA has now expanded across stage, movies, television and screen, events and interactive entertainment. NIDA is funded through a mix of federal funding, philanthropy, and revenue generation across corporate training, education and events.

The CFOO will own the end-to-end financial management of the organisation. There will be a focus on forecasting and analytics, and a commercial approach to leveraging higher returns on investment, driving greater value from revenue as well taking a robust view on costs.
The CFOO will be the commercial sounding board to the CEO and executives and will contribute to the development and execution of NIDA's overall strategy. You will also be the operational lead with carriage of Compliance & Risk, Facilities, WHS, Sustainability, Technical Operations, IT and Archives with a total team of circa 28.

There is an expanded operational focus on best practice and ongoing process improvement in these areas, as well as several critical projects across the organisation.

We are seeking resilient individuals with a core background as a CFO, but with a broader operational track record encompassing IT, Facilities, and Corporate Services experience in complex people-based businesses such as hospitality, events, healthcare, media, advertising, private education or any multi-channel revenue business.
NFP and/or For Purpose experience will be highly regarded in addition to for profit experience and a very commercial approach. Experience of dealing with varied stakeholders, high-profile sophisticated boards as well as balancing creative outputs with financial inputs will be key.
You should thrive in these environments and be motivated to ensuring NIDA continues to make an impact on the Australian and world stage. You must be solution-focused and bring good energy and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, balance multiple projects and priorities and bring clarity where there is complexity.

This is a fast paced, creative and dynamic culture and will suit individuals who have an interest in the Arts.
