The Opportunity
The Network Management Services Team provides an end-to-end traffic management service and control centre to optimise the effectiveness of South Australia’s transport network.
As an Engineering Drafting Officer, your primary responsibilities will include conducting traffic and site investigations, preparing technical reports, and providing insights that improve road safety. Day-to-day, you’ll utilise tools such as Auto CAD to draft and review traffic plans, road designs, and amendments.
You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the preparation of drawings and technical documents. Whether you’re reviewing traffic plans for road signs, pavement markings, or signal displays, or evaluating pedestrian and traffic volumes, you will get involved in the provision of technical advice and troubleshooting ensuring the delivery of successful technical and safety services.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person who can connect with stakeholders, understand customer needs and provide technical advice and solutions.
You will have a team focussed approach, enjoy problem-solving and demonstrate good communication skills, both written and verbal and have experience in utilising road design software packages such as Auto CAD.

Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates may be appointed to Technical Grade Officer (TGO) level 1 or 2 depending on relevant skills, experience and qualifications.
For appointment at the TGO level, a relevant Diploma/Advanced Diploma or an equivalent and recognised qualification in Engineering Drafting is required.
Suitable candidates currently studying towards a qualification(s) in the field of Engineering Drafting will be considered for appointment at the ASO2 classification, with the opportunity to progress into the TGO stream upon completion of their study.
A current driver’s licence is essential.
Special Conditions
Prior to employment with the Department, the successful candidate will be required to provide:
- A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
TGO2 - $75,240 to $79,880 per annum
TGO1 - $48,788 to $70,032 per annum
ASO2 (currently studying) - $58,709 - $63,154 per annum
