Our esteemed client, Nexa Care, a leading provider of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) support services located in Mount Martha, Victoria, is looking for a compassionate full-time Disability Support Worker to join our dedicated team.

The annual salary for this position is $73,150 - $75,000.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to developing, following, and implementing programs that support customers in developing skills associated with daily living and to increase their capacity to be a part of the community.
  • Support customers in their chosen program to progress towards their individual goals and ensure they meet their requirements under their NDIS Plan.
  • Provide support to customers who require assistance with tasks of daily living, personal care, domestic assistance, and medication administration.
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes dignity, independence, and acquisition of skills of customers.
  • Support customers in developing skills covering all aspects of personal development and daily living as defined by goals set in their Individual Plan (IP).
  • Ensure all customers are treated with respect and dignity and provide culturally respectful and appropriate service delivery.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of customers in accordance with privacy legislation and Nexa Care Coordination Policies and Procedures, during and beyond the period of employment.
  • Complete all required paperwork, documentation and recording as per Nexa Care Coordination Policy and Procedure which includes monitoring and documenting activities and goals as part of their NDIS Plan.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with key external disability and other service providers.
  • Supporting customers to obtain full-time or voluntary employment (as required by role).
  • Supporting customers through peer support groups or weekend respite (as required by role).
  • Perform duties in line with the scope of disability support worker, constantly assessing the environment and participant for occupational health and safety hazards, immediately escalating it without putting yourself or others at risk.
  • Any activity appearing to be unsafe in any way, do not perform it without getting it assessed further and deemed safe by your in-line manager, enter an incident report to report this.
  • Nexa Care expects their staff not to be engaging in any activity putting participants or themselves at risk, therefore staff are required to ensure they have the required knowledge around their task allocation before the commencement of the shift.
  • Staff are expected to perform their duties as outlined in the shift schedule unless other duties are discussed and pre-assessed for WHS-compliant tasks by your inline manager.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Certificate III in Individual Support or a Certificate IV in Disability.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar setting.
