Woolworths Group (Australia and New Zealand’s largest retailer) launched Woolworths Market Plus (WMP) in October 2023. WMP is a curated customer destination that brings together our trusted marketplace ecosystem, comprising three core banners: Big W Market, MyDeal, and Everyday Market.
WMP provides one door for our sellers to both sell and manage products across our marketplaces. We continue to grow, and operate primarily across three hub locations: Melbourne, Sydney & Manila.
What you’ll do
The Head of Product leads the Product and UX Practice for WMP and is a core member to the WMP Leadership Team, partnering with Product Leads, Technology Leadership and other stakeholders across WMP and the Woolworths Group.
In this role you will partner closely with multiple senior leaders across WMP, as well as multiple squads across the ecosystem to deliver products (feature-based, technology-based and process improvement) and customer and team experiences that drive better outcomes for customers and then can be leveraged across the Woolworths ecosystem.
Responsible for the Product Management Practice you will establish and evolve frameworks and standards that coach and guide your Product team members to be effective in their roles. Supporting the CTO to ensure a cohesive Product & Tech culture, providing teams with the space to focus on building their capabilities through meaningful growth and development plans, connecting with others for shared learning, and driving innovation across the business.
- Translating the Woolworths Market Plus Strategy into a product roadmap for both the WMP platform and the MyDeal retail website and app
- Partnering with the Managing Director, WMP Leadership team, marketplace business leads, XLT and Product Managers to lead and refine prioritisation of Product initiatives and activities across teams and identify key measures of success each quarter
- Support Product Managers and delivery leads in key strategic initiatives they are driving with a focus on Product Strategy development and capability, delivery, and engagement
- Gain and maintain strong knowledge of the broader eco-system to enable identifying and supporting cross-team dependencies and programs of work across the business, partnering with WMP leaders where relevant
- Ensure that optimal ways of working are agreed and implemented across Product Management, UX Design, and Engineering to deliver on the priorities agreed with the WMP leadership team
What you’ll bring
You will have a demonstrable record of progression throughout your career, having worked in roles of similar complexity, ideally within the retail or complex services or product sector. You will have experience working within a matrixed/agile organisation having had success in building and fostering relationships across and down into the business.You will have deep resource management experience, a background in technology, strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise and problem solve. As a trusted advisor, you have the ability to influence an organisation with a good appreciation of commercial and strategic context.
In addition you will have:
- An influential Product leader with experience in eCommerce retailing
- Demonstrated leadership and product management experience with complex products
- Demonstrated ability of defining and executing strategies that create real business and customer value in fast-growth or large-scale companies
- A passion for raising the bar and continuously driving best practices throughout the company and the Product practice. Always leading by example.
- Experience supporting and measuring key business and usage success metrics
