Melbourne - Director, Head of Global Medical Excellence (Hybrid)
The Opportunity:
The Director, Medical Excellence, leads the development and tracking of role-specific curricula to ensure appropriate, consistent disease and product expertise across Medical Affairs. You will work with Therapeutic Area (TA) leads to ensure training content is current and available.
The Role:
- Establishes strategic relationships and influence across MA Leadership and relevant global/regional stakeholders to effectively collaborate on the development of processes that optimize strategic and operational needs within Medical Affairs.
- Leads a Medical Affairs Excellence Matrix forum to establish and maintain high-quality standards and ensure consistent, compliant implementation and drives excellence in medical operations and activities, incorporating best practices into future iterations of guidance and/or processes, systems, tools, and/or training.
- Serves as a senior SME in corporate cross-functional initiatives addressing activities and resources relevant to Medical Affairs.
- Oversees role-specific Med Affairs training curriculum development and competency frameworks.
- Interfaces with Insights forums, Training, and regional SMEs to bring external environmental insights to support medical performance across regions.
- Represents CSL at relevant global forums, conferences, and professional associations.
- Contributes oversight for relevant systems and tools and with data repositories and metrics & analytics. Participates in system development and process redesign activities to ensure optimal performance, reporting, and efficiencies.
- Provides strategic input towards relevant comprehensive functional and TA strategies, operations, goals, and objectives, and ensures alignment within global and regional levels and across cross-functional stakeholders.
Your skills and experience:
- MD/PharmD/PhD or equivalent with 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotherapeutics industry experience
- Experience in drug safety, pharmacovigilance, quality assurance and compliance requirements is desirable.
- 5+ years of Medical Affairs Leadership experience
- Experience building and leading matrixed teams in a global organization
- Experience in biomedical research, scientific analysis and writing
- Influential leader who builds relationships across stakeholder types
- Strong working knowledge across multiple therapeutic areas
