An opportunity exists for a Work Health and Safety Officer join their professional team. The WHS Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by promoting a safety-first culture, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and industry standards.
The role includes but is not limited to the following:Key Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with project leaders to proactively manage WHS practices, improve safety culture and deliver training to our people to ensure a high level of competency in WHS actions.
Conduct internal audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance at a site level.
Undertake incident investigations, complete appropriate reports and liaise with external stakeholders to resolve WHS incidents and eliminate future risks. Implement corrective actions where required and monitor new controls for effectiveness.
Lead safety reporting & present updates to clients where applicable.Initial project risk assessments to determine all major and minor safety and environmental hazards that will or could be present onsite.
Support the project team in planning of required safety requirements for site as well as ongoing training needs.
Development of controls to eliminate or control identified hazards following the hierarchy of controls in cooperation with project managers and estimators.
Support project team and workers in all required client inductions and toolbox talks.
Support project teams in implementing required controls outlined in documentation on site.
Manage site registers on major projects including equipment registers, plant registers and hazardous chemical registers.
Assist EHS&Q Manager in external audits completed by clients or external auditing organisations including ISO.
Maintain and update training registers for all workers onsite and book in required trainings for workers.
Contribute to the creation of new WHS Initiatives and recommend/implement improvements to existing systems
Experience: Over 2 years demonstrated experience in WHS in the construction industry (Senior= 5+ years)
Practical experience managing in line with ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards.
Qualifications & Licenses: Essential
Certificate IV in Work Health and SafetyDriver’s Licence
PreferredBachelor’s degree in business or a related field

Salary: Between $115,000 and $130,000 per annum
