Betfair Australia is on the lookout for a talented and motivated Senior Web Developer to join our Digital Team. As a senior developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and responsive web applications.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the fast-paced world of online sports betting, collaborate with talented professionals, and contribute to the success of a market leader.
Our Digital team is working on some incredible initiatives at the moment. These initiatives span the breadth of building the next generation of channels through to streaming of enterprise scale data. We have a strong growth target in place and we are going to go after it.We embrace a growth-mindset and support each other.
Requirements
What you will bring- You are an Agilist who practices and helps champion Agile ways of working.
- You are strong on all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and are motivated to help others grow knowledge.
- You have at least 5 years working in software development.
- You have at least 4 years working in software development teams running modern Agile frameworks.
- You have at least 3 years working with React, Node.js, NextJS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and AWS.
- Python, GrapQL and Mobile experience (React Native & Typescript) are not essential, however nice to have.
- You have a relevant tertiary degree or similar qualification/industry experience.
- You can explain the pros and cons of different JS engines.
- You are highly experienced with API’s and data transformation.
- Developments in technologies and emerging technologies are at the forefront of your mind. You are a technologist who is hungry to continually learn, grow and help others wherever possible.

Some tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with key roles to understand the product vision and mission. What are we trying to achieve and why.
- Agile ceremonies occur daily. You are a key contributor in this space and will help others increase their Agile maturity.
- You are deeply embedded in the ‘how’. How to develop the code required to deliver the expected functionality safely reliably and securely.
- You understand what is necessary to effectively develop the code that is required to successfully meet the business, product and customer expectations. This is a skill that you will helps other develop and refine wherever possible.
- Technical excellence, standards, patterns and practices is an always on activity. Your role is a co-champion for these.
- Writing clean, maintainable, modular and efficient code following best practices and coding standards is in your everyday thinking.
- Thoroughly testing that your code successfully does what it is supposed to is expected before raising a Pull Request (PR).
- Working on PRs is a shared responsibility. You will help ensure that everyone understand and adheres to this.
- Technical quality gates are highly valued. You are part of the group who co-champion technical quality gates. This group proactively encourages everyone to understand, embrace and follow these.
