The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Offshore Geotechnical and Survey Calibration Technician to join our established Australian Operations in Perth. You will be based in Fugro’s Balcatta facility between offshore projects and will report to the Operations Manager.
Your duties and responsibility will include- Checking, calibrating and maintaining offshore geotechnical and survey test equipment including
- Fabricate and modify equipment when needed to ensure critical business needs and QHSSE standards are met
- Installation and operation of geotechnical survey equipment on vessels of opportunity and dedicated geotechnical survey vessels
- Conduct drilling to gather samples for laboratory tests and analyses
- Participate in and conduct offshore geotechnical surveys including assistance with deck layout planning and input into risk assessments;
- Installation and configuration of hydrographic and marine geophysics survey software packages
- Operation of survey equipment and software to acquire data under supervision, in accordance with industry standards, Fugro work instructions and project specific procedures;
- Maintenance of accurate logs of operations and survey parameters.
- Compliance with QHSSE policies, standards and procedures;
About You
Your success in securing this role will require:
- Diploma or equivalent trade qualification in Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electronics or Communications engineering;
- Competent with electronic and hydraulic fault diagnostics and repairs;
- A basic understanding of the concepts of marine acoustics, geophysics, geology, positioning and marine operations would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of Cone Penetrometer Tests (CPT) and/or geotechnical drilling equipment as a requirement.
- Computer literacy and aptitude for learning new software and experience with common Microsoft Office applications;
- Capable of obtaining offshore survival course and passing associated medical exam
- Willingness to work offshore for periods of time;
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
