Our Opportunity
Due to exponential growth, Nepean Conveyors and Nepean Longwall are seeking Mechanical Designers to join their respective teams located in NSW and Qld.
This position will be responsible for developing projects from concept definition to production detail design, ensuring design solutions meet the mechanical system’s requirements as well as best industry practices. This position must also be able to support the development and execution of project plans which could include schedule and budget planning, conceptual design, prototyping, design for reliability and manufacturability, interfacing with vendors, qualification testing and documentation.
Your daily duties will include however are not limited to; • 3D modelling and sketching up designs using input from engineers and senior designers on the team.- Calculate factors like tolerances, dimensioning, weldability and ease of assembly.
- Create designs in line with company procedures, regulations and client standards.
- Creating component and assembly models based on technical specifications (Autodesk Inventor).
- Provide practical and engineered design solutions in consultations with lead engineers.
- Deliver designs according to required timeframes and in line with company procedures, regulations, and client standards
- Involvement from concept to install, including exposure to in-house fabrication workshop.
- Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safe design practices.
- Assist mechanical engineers in the modelling and detailing of mechanical equipment.
- Ensures that designs and finished work are within scope of work and allocated time frame.
- Prepares general assembly drawings and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of senior engineers.
- Use customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve or repair the company's existing machines.
- Liaison with stakeholders
- Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the machine is built according to design specifications
- To work in a safe manner using appropriate Safe Work Instructions or Safety Operating Procedures
- Work in a collaborative and team manner.

- Min 5 years’ experience within a similar role
- Appropriate qualification/training.
- Obtained drawing and design experience.
- Technical competence
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 + Super
