What you'll do:

The Business Development Manager for ANZ is a role dedicated to developing new business across the Australian & New Zealand Governments, especially the Armed Forces. The role will focus on end-user engagement and working with partner(s) and focuses on promoting new services and usage of Viasat’s portfolio of land, air and maritime services across all departments within the Australian & New Zealand Governments.

The individual will have a enriched understanding of Australian and/or New Zealand Armed Forces Operational and Procurements structure, processes and people related to the provision and operation of communications and ideally satellite communications.

An active senior level network is required to enable rapid creation of a strong pipeline of opportunities across the Australian & New Zealand Governments to grow revenues.

The successful applicant will be required to engage pro-actively with a broad cross-section of contacts across the company, end users and service as well as application and hardware partners.

The day-to-day:

  • - Meet and exceed assigned targets for profitable sales (New Business Bookings)
  • Develop, implement and maintain a business development plan to engage key Australian & New Zealand Government agencies to quickly find opportunities for short-term growth and long-term revenue performance.
  • Develop and deliver clear presentations on integrated solutions with benefits to end-user customers
  • Develop and maintain deep end-user relationships to establish the brand preference for Viasat (up to and including tender specification of our products and services) and prioritise the approach to market in accordance with Viasat International Government strategy and capability fit.
  • Work with end-users and cross functionally within Viasat to understand and define customer operational, technical, financial and procurement requirements and match uniquely differentiated value propositions to each opportunity, utilising the full portfolio of Viasat offerings, including Managed Services.
  • Develop relationships within our International Government team to fully understand and tap into expertise in land, sea and air sector teams and translate these to Australian & New Zealand Government end-user engagement to promote growth
  • Develop strategic partnerships that will bring new opportunities, improve access to the end-user community and generate material growth
  • Raise the profile within associated public organisations across Australia & New Zealand
  • Support partners (as appropriate) in sophisticated bids and solutions
  • Establish relationships with selected supporting organisations, which will allow positioning of Viasat capability and facilitate access customers (terminal manufacturers, solutions providers and systems integrators)
  • Production of timely activity reports, revenue/bookings forecasts (including accurate and up to date SFDC) and commentary.
  • Provide support at regional trade shows and conferences.

What you'll need:

  • Demonstrated ability in sales/business development of satellite / carrier / IP services in the Australian & New Zealand Gov market
  • Strong background of success in breaking into new customers, building revenue quickly and sustainably
  • Understanding of mobile satellite, fixed satellite and cellular communications industries
  • Proven ability to build unquestioning relationships, conduct business with cultural sensitivity and possess solid understanding of our diversified satellite communications marketplace
  • Strong Presentation Skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to Travel regularly
  • Candidate must be an Australian citizen based in Australia and be proficient in English
  • Must be eligible for relevant Australian government security clearances.

What will help you on the job:

  • Strong technical sales background and ability to understand key terminology within the VSAT, IP and Carrier markets
  • Experience of the Government and Military Market across all domains.
  • Strong Understanding of the Telco marketplace will be an advantage
  • Familiarity with Viasat products and services.
