Picture Framer

Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Picture Framer to join our team.

Cuts out and assembles mouldings to make picture frames, and frames paintings, photographs, needlework and other artwork.

Skill Level: 3

• Studying drawings, work orders, and sample parts to determine framing specifications
• Determining tooling, material, and machine requirements and planning the sequence of operations
• Setting up woodworking machines and wood stock for correct cutting, planning, turning, shaping, and sanding
• Operating machines to cut, plane, turn, shape, and sand frame components to precise measurements
• Removing old finishes using steel wool, glasspaper, solvents, and paint strippers; scraping softened finishes as required
• Applying surface finishes such as varnish, shellac, lacquer, stains, and paint; polishing and waxing finished surfaces
• Fitting and fastening frame pieces accurately and securely
• Mounting and assembling artwork, backing materials, and glazing for presentation and preservation
• Ensuring high standards of quality and attention to detail in all framing work

• Minimum 5 years experience in a picture framing environment
• Skilled in operating woodworking tools and machinery
• Strong attention to detail and an eye for design
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work orders
• Good manual dexterity and craftsmanship skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
