Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An amazing opportunity is now available to join the robust team of Midwives in the Postnatal Ward at Nepean Hospital. On offer are temporary assignments until August 2025 on either Full time or Part time capacity.

Your role as the Registered Midwife will ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families of the service through the promotion of best practice and appropriate escalation of care. You will work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of patient care.

This position will see you act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures.

The Registered Midwife will maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Current registration with AHPRA Registered Midwife (division 1)
  • Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in midwifery, including completion of a new graduate year or equivalent experience in Midwifery
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  • Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide woman centred care
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
