Tucked away among the rolling hills of Spring Gully, Skillogalee Restaurant is about more than just a meal — it’s an experience that embodies the essence of the Clare Valley. Set in our historic 1850s stone settler’s cottage, our restaurant provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can immerse yourself in our region’s exceptional food and wine.
We are looking for a Chef De Partie (351311 - Chef) to join the team! In this role, you will support the team under the leadership of our Executive Chef, Dan Moss. Your responsibilities will include preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your specialty, maintaining high standards of food hygiene, and efficiently managing your section in the kitchen.This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Sevenhill, SA.
Main tasks:
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the highest standards in your designated section.
- Assist the Executive Chef and Head Chef in creating new menu items and seasonal dishes.
- Manage and train any commis chefs working with you, ensuring they are ready for the next step in their career.
- Oversee the maintenance of kitchen equipment and the cleanliness of the kitchen area.
- Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins.
- Ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standards regarding taste, consistency, and presentation.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Collaborate with the rest of the kitchen team to maintain a positive work environment and ensure smooth operations during service.
- Take responsibility for ordering stock and managing your section's inventory.
- Uphold the high standards of Skillogalee Estate in all aspects of kitchen operations.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Minimum of a relevant Diploma qualification and at least 3 years’ relevant industry experience.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong cooking skills and overall culinary repertoire.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities.
Annual salary will be between $76,000.00 to $80,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
