About the role
Join our dynamic and innovative team as a Senior Reservoir Engineer where you will leverage your strategic critical thinking and expertise to analyse field and well production performance. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting future development drilling opportunities and reservoir management activities for our coal seam gas fields.Reporting to the Fairview & Arcadia Subsurface Team Leader, you’ll engage in cutting-edge projects and drive advancements in reservoir engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Innovative Projects: Work on pioneering projects involving deep coal development, ultra-long horizontal wells, and groundbreaking technologies.
- Reservoir Optimization: Use your expertise to optimize reservoir workflows, drive innovation, and develop game-changing solutions for a variety of reservoir challenges.
- In-Depth Analysis: Perform thorough reservoir analysis using field and well production data, and pressure information to support data-driven decisions.
- Field Development: Provide key reservoir engineering input for new field development projects, utilizing analytical and dynamic models to determine optimal well spacing, type curves, and production forecasts.
- Model Maintenance: Maintain and develop reservoir models to forecast gas and water production for various business processes.
- Production Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance production from existing wells, investigate underperforming wells, and create actionable plans to unlock reservoir potential.
- Well Hopper Inventory: Build and maintain a well hopper inventory in “Development Ready” areas.
- Technical Assurance: Ensure all subsurface technical work is reviewed and assured through both formal and informal technical reviews, internally and with joint ventures.
- Data Gathering: Oversee annual reservoir data gathering programs.
- Technology Advancement: Stay abreast of new technologies in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering and other related fields, developing and implementing innovative solutions where appropriate.
About you
We are seeking someone with proven experience working with geologists and geophysicists to integrate geological and geophysical insights into technical work. You should also have experience and a passion for mentoring junior staff in reservoir engineering, management, and modelling.
Essential experience required for this position includes:
- 8+ years of reservoir engineering technical experience across appraisal, development and operations phases of field life.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and/or individual contributors.
- Reserves management experience.
- Proven self-starter and self-guided, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with key stakeholders
Desired experience for this position includes:
- Practical Coal Seam Gas experience
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or working towards becoming registered.
Essential qualifications required for this position are:
- Degree qualified subsurface professional (petroleum/reservoir engineering) with relevant work/industry experience and demonstrated history of collaboration in a subsurface team environment.
