Yellow Matter Brewing, located in the heart of Adelaide, South Australia, is more than just a brewpub — it's a creative culinary space that merges the art of brewing with an innovative food program. By day, it serves as a vibrant café with a brunch menu grounded in fermentation, native ingredients, and seasonal produce.

By night, it transforms into a buzzing brewery offering stone-baked pizzas, share plates, and beer pairings designed to elevate the entire dining experience.

  • Apply advanced cooking techniques such as koji curing, fermentation, pickling, and use of modern kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure consistency, presentation, and quality across all dishes, including signature items like XO mushrooms, pork & egg burgers, and nduja pizzas.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train kitchen staff to uphold high standards of preparation, safety, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution, food costings, and sourcing of local and specialty ingredients.
  • Monitor kitchen operations during peak service periods to ensure timely preparation and delivery of dishes.
  • Conduct stock control, order supplies, and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support daily operations.
  • Enforce strict food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance in all areas of kitchen operations.
  • Assist in analysing recipes and pricing to maintain cost-efficiency while preserving food quality.
  • Coordinate production schedules and allocate kitchen tasks based on staffing and service needs.
  • Engage in regular innovation and improvement of menu offerings, aligning with seasonal produce and culinary trends.
  • Participate in food and beer pairing development to complement the brewery’s evolving tap list.
To be considered for this role, you should
  • Certificates III & IV in Commercial Cookery from Australia
  • Have at least 2 years of work experience as a Chef in a similar cuisine
  • Good knowledge of occupational health and safety (WHS) and HACCP.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be willing to relocate if you are interstate or in other cities.
What you will get in return:
  • Work with a dedicated and supportive team
  • Career progression and development opportunities
  • Work in one of the best locations in Adelaide, SA
