About the roles
GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public and Private Prisons across Victoria.

Nurses employed by GEO Healthcare work to deliver high quality patient care to men in Victoria's Public and Private prisons. Nurses deliver health services which enhance and promote the health of people in prison through evidenced base, comprehensive and professional nursing care within a prison setting.

Opportunities exist for full-time, part time and casual nursing staff.

Nursing Staff will be employed under the terms of an Enterprise Agreement (Currently under negotiations). Terms and conditions provided by this Agreement include:

  • Registered Nurse salary range $71.6k - $98.3k. (Currently under negotiations)
  • Annual increments to salary
  • Competitive Shift and Weekend Allowances.
  • Generous annual leave, long service leave and ‘continuing professional development’ leave benefits.

Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Appropriate nursing qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Minimum one years of post-registration clinical experience.
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing the role.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate patient care.
  • Competence in clinical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work within multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to contribute to the professional practice within the health facility.
  • Competence in written and verbal communication skills. Basic level of computer literacy.
  • Clinical experience in a primary health care is desirable.

Other Requirements of the role:

  • Valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
