Operations Manager
About the Role
Surge Direct is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and strengthen the operational function of our face-to-face fundraising business. This role is focused on how the business runs behind the scenes — the systems, structure, processes, and people that enable high performance across the organisation.
You will be responsible for driving operational consistency, improving internal systems and reporting, and leading the operations team to ensure the business runs efficiently and effectively at scale. This is a key leadership role where you will influence how work gets done across the organisation, with a strong focus on structure, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Leading overall operational performance across systems, processes, and internal support functions
- Designing and implementing operational frameworks that support business goals and scalability
- Improving internal reporting, workflows, and systems to drive clarity, efficiency, and accountability
- Leading and developing the operations team, including Area Managers and internal support roles
- Overseeing workforce planning structures and operational coordination across teams
- Leading recruitment, onboarding, and training frameworks for operational roles
- Ensuring compliance systems and internal standards are consistently embedded and maintained
- Driving continuous improvement across operational processes and business systems
- Using operational data and reporting to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Managing internal stakeholder alignment between operations, leadership, and field teams
- Leading operational issue resolution and escalation processes
- Running regular operational leadership meetings with clear actions and accountability
You are a structured and capable operations leader who thrives in fast-paced, multi-team environments.
You enjoy building systems that work, improving how businesses operate, and developing strong, accountable teams.
You will bring:- 3+ years’ experience in operational management or a similar leadership role
- Strong ability to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency
- Experience managing or influencing managers and team leaders
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on scalable operations

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 + Superannuation
