The Motorola Solutions Graduate Program is an intense and engaging program which involves collaborating and working within a fast-paced team of software, network, and system engineers. This includes implementing and testing solutions for a variety of mission critical applications and systems.Motorola Mission Critical Systems use multi-vendor products and are deployed globally. About the position
As a graduate IT Engineer, you will be working in a team environment to provide high quality technical and operational support for mission critical IT and Radio systems. In this role, you are expected to ensure service level and operational key performance measures are met on an ongoing basis.This role will involve being an IT ‘all-rounder’ and be willing to learn new and proprietary technologies ‘on the go’. The successful candidate should have a ‘can do’ attitude and be able to think on their feet.
You will gain experience managing new and innovative System solutions, applications and processes. As a graduate, you will be given the opportunity to learn and develop new skills including access to Motorola labs and testing facilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage day to day operations, IT system administration and maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the managed services projects.
- Work alongside with a Senior Engineers as an escalation point for the Network Operations Control Centre (NOCC) staff or Field Engineers when necessary
- Work with IT hardware within our own and customer data centers
- Provision and configure VMs for the virtual infrastructure
- Working with cloud technologies (Azure) as well as virtualized on-prem solutions
- Ensure systems are secure and protected
- Develop, implement and maintain procedures to measure and track service performance/quality
- Any other ad hoc IT related tasks including cabling and installation of devices
- Interact with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide short and long term in-depth analysis and investigation of problems
- Follow work instructions, procedures and policies (surveillance, analysis and testing)
- Improve automation and efficiencies of deployment models for application servers and network appliances
- Conduct network testing, integration and troubleshooting under guidance
- Attend Technical training sessions
- Provide Interoperability support (3rd party applications/platforms)
- Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or other applicable staff
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics or Computer Science, or related discipline
- Understanding of IT and RF systems (i.e. coursework/projects, research, internships, or other practical experience outside of schoolwork (including hobbies).
- Working proficiency in verbal and written English
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure either via course work or practical experience
- Industry certification is desirable but not mandatory (networking/cloud or any security related certificate)
- Interest to learn scripting, application frameworks, and networking.
