The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager Sustainability Impact Narrative and Human Rights, this position will play a critical role in developing and implementing robust governance frameworks to ensure human rights are respected and upheld throughout our global supply chains.

This role requires a deep understanding of human rights principles, corporate governance, international standards, and our operational response to key human rights risks in our global supply chain.

What you’ll do

This role will be a key enabler of delivery of Woolworths Group’s sustainability commitments related to human rights - particularly the development and delivery of key governance frameworks and risk management strategies related to modern slavery and worker exploitation, guided by risk prioritisation and a salient human rights issues approach.

The successful candidate will achieve this through an ability to;
  • Initiate, lead and sustain best practice governance frameworks and continuous improvements in line with a dynamic program
  • Articulate where Woolworths Group is heading strategically and the interconnectedness of the different priorities, doing so in an engaging and credible manner, and how the Human Rights priorities align to this strategy.
  • Empower, enable, coordinate and partner with business leaders to further develop their businesses by analysing the strategic context and spotting opportunities and improvements.
  • Actively listen, question and constructively challenge others’ views and have an influence over key decisions with the ability to effectively create “buy in” to new ideas and convince others of the need for change as required with poise, logic and shared understanding.
  • Understand the impact of commercial decisions, take a risk based approach and balance the approach with financial and risk targets, with a sound ability to connect, persuade and influence others.
What you’ll bring
  • 5+ years of experience in human rights, ethical sourcing, or corporate social responsibility, with a focus on governance and risk management in global supply chains.
  • Bachelor's degree in human rights, law, international relations, or a related field.
  • A deep understanding of human rights principles, international standards (e.g., UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights), and regulations.
  • Strong governance, risk management, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and project management skills. Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working in large scale retail or consumer goods companies, would be an advantage.
What we offer
  • The opportunity to grow within the group
  • Strong mentorship and development; opportunity to collaborate with some of the brightest and best minds in Australia
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Get your Woolies worth through team member benefits across all of our brands
