My Tax Refund Today is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join its professional team at Parramatta office. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing accounts and financial operations.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a diverse clientele and supporting the firm’s accounting functions.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in preparing and reviewing financial statements, management reporting and analysis, and offering strategic business insights. The role involves high-level accounting tasks with associated tax work, ensuring the successful applicant can apply their expertise in a broad and meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Lead financial reporting processes and deliver comprehensive reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity and risk mitigation.
- Oversee year-end and audit processes, liaising with auditors and preparing supporting documentation.
- Evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue enhancement.
- Provide expert accounting advice on complex transactions and business restructures.
- Assist with financial modelling and investment analysis for internal and client-facing projects.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff and support their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and uphold best practices across all financial operations.
- Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Provide support for resolving ATO queries and correspondence related to tax matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a senior accounting or equivalent role.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant tax regulations.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
