TEG Life Like Touring is looking for an Assistant Stage Manager to support the Company Stage Manager and the heads of technical departments in delivering the technical and performance aspects of the Global Premiere Australian Tour of Gabby’s Dollhouse Live!
Contract Position: Weekly Fee + Per Diems (when applicable), all accommodation and travel provided (when away from home base).
All candidates must be Melbourne-based and available for all rehearsal and national tour dates from 30th January 2025 up to/around 29th April 2025.

The Role
The Employee shall perform all services customarily rendered by the Assistant Stage Manager of a first-class musical stage play (of the same quality and calibre as a Broadway/West End musical). Without limitation, the following employee duties shall include:
- Attendance at rehearsals and assistance with cast management.
- Operating the assistant stage manager and props backstage track for performances to ensure the smooth running of the production.
- Develop a relationship and perform appropriate On-the-Job Training (OJT) between the CSM/ASM to allow for coverage of roles, mutual assistance for company administrative work, and appropriate role support.
- Care for all props before, during, and after each performance, including any required maintenance.
- Ensure props are packed carefully to ensure they travel well between venues and to minimise maintenance due to travel damage.
- Assist with the load-in and load-out of props and set when able to do so.
- Maintain communication between cast and crew to ensure any related issues or concerns are always passed on to management and dealt with in a timely manner.
- Liaise with cast and crew to repair or maintain props as required.
- Assist with making appropriate paperwork for onstage movements of scenic and prop elements as delegated by the Stage Manager.
- Assist with managing the induction of the cast into each venue and especially planning for risk management, in conjunction with the Stage Manager, General Manager, and/or Creative Team.
- Adhere to venue OH&S requirements to support the safety of cast, crew, and audience in every circumstance and at every venue.
- Assist the Stage Manager with cast/crew liaison at any performance regarding any relevant issues/incidents/accidents or near misses arising before, during, or after the performance.
- Assist the Stage Manager with reporting technical, client, or other issues on relevant documentation to report to Life Like Touring. Covering any issues that come to the attention of Stage Management that need further input.
- Actively participate in matters and activities relating to Health and Safety, including compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Other duties as directed.

Requirements
Required Skills:
- Extensive Stage Management experience, particularly in musical theatre and family entertainment.
- Exhibit outstanding organisation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work with creative and technical personnel and performers.
- Ability to work under pressure, using tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of "performance" etiquette, including a comprehensive knowledge of theatre traditions, protocol, and terminology.
- Possess a comprehensive general knowledge of workplace safety procedures and protocols.
- Highly skilled in the calling of live performance.
- Capable of carrying out manual handling tasks and comfortable working at heights, and able to lift 25kg loads unencumbered.
- Sound financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets, keep appropriate records, and reconcile accounts.
- Ability to prepare reports and ensure updated and accurate documentation.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold a license to operate a motor vehicle. Candidates for this role must ensure that they are entitled to legally work in Australia, and proof of citizenship or eligibility may be requested. Candidates must currently hold, or successfully submit to, a Working With Children check.
