Baker

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Baker to join our passionate kitchen team and contribute to the continued success of our bakery and café. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is creative, detail-oriented, and committed to the craft of baking.

Location: Woodward Street Bakery Café, Whitfield, QLD

• Ensuring all baking equipment, benches, ovens, and workstations are clean and meet health and safety standards before and after use.
• Checking the quality of raw ingredients including flour, butter, yeast, and chocolate; accurately measuring and weighing ingredients according to recipes.
• Mixing, kneading, rolling, shaping, and moulding dough using both manual and automated techniques.
• Preparing dough, batters, and pastry fillings for a variety of bakery products including sourdough loaves, rolls, pies, croissants, tarts, and cakes.
• Monitoring oven temperatures and adjusting as needed to ensure optimal baking results.
• Observing the appearance, texture, and doneness of baked goods throughout the baking process to maintain high standards.
• Coordinating the loading, baking, unloading, and cooling of multiple batches of bread and pastry items to meet daily demand.
• Operating dough-dividing, moulding, rolling, and biscuit-cutting machines as required.
• Glazing buns and pastries and artistically decorating cakes, tarts, and slices with creams, ganache, fruits, or icing to suit customer preferences and seasonal menus.
• Cleaning, greasing, and maintaining baking trays, tins, and tools used in daily production.
• Contributing ideas for new products, seasonal specials, and display improvements in line with customer preferences and café trends.
• Supporting stock control by monitoring inventory of baking supplies and placing orders in consultation with the manager.
• Collaborating with the café team to ensure timely preparation and restocking of bakery display items throughout the day.
• Occasionally assisting with front-of-house operations during busy periods to maintain seamless service.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar role

• Works efficiently and independently, with strong time management skills
• It is dependable, punctual, and flexible with early morning shifts
• Takes pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail
• Is enthusiastic about contributing to a positive team culture and customer experience
