Position Title: Cook

Location: Whitfield, QLD

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and handle food ingredients to ensure freshness, quality, and safe preparation practices
  • Prepare and cook a variety of menu items including breakfast dishes, light lunches, bakery items, and daily specials in line with our seasonal offerings
  • Regulate and monitor temperature settings on ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to ensure food is cooked to perfection
  • Season, taste-test, and adjust dishes during preparation to maintain our signature flavours
  • Portion meals accurately, plate with attention to presentation, and apply appropriate sauces, gravies, and garnishes
  • Manage safe storage of raw and cooked items in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Prepare food to cater to special dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-conscious options
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety standards
  • Contribute to menu planning, stock ordering, and inventory tracking to ensure minimal waste and maximum efficiency
  • Estimate food requirements and assist in managing food costs within budget
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff and support their development through on-the-job training
  • Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure customer satisfaction and respond to special requests
  • Assist in creating and preparing display items for the counter, including baked goods, ready-to-go meals, and snacks
Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours per week)
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum
Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role

Qualification: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in a relevant field
