Job summary
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Sydney office. This role is open to candidates accredited by Engineers Australia as either an Engineering Technologist (ANZSCO 233914) or a Professional Engineer (ANZSCO 233999).
As part of our team, you will play a critical role in designing, analysing, and implementing electrical engineering solutions for diverse building services projects. You will work within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with Australian standards (AS3000, AS/NZS 1680, Section J7, etc.) while delivering high-quality, energy-efficient designs.
Key responsibilities- Conduct lighting calculations using Dialux Evo to optimise energy efficiency.
- Perform manual maximum demand and cable calculations without software assistance.
- Draft electrical layouts using Revit, ensuring accurate coordination with other disciplines.
- Design and document electrical single-line diagrams and distribution board layouts.
- Ensure compliance with Australian electrical standards.
- Develop and assess low-voltage and medium-voltage power systems.
- Coordinate with mechanical, hydraulic, and fire engineering teams.
- Evaluate emergency lighting systems for safety compliance.
- Provide technical solutions and resolve design challenges.
- Attend site visits, conduct surveys, and perform inspections.
- Prepare sketches, design drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure quality assurance compliance.
- Attend client and project meetings as required.
- Travel to regional and interstate locations, including overnight stays, as required.
- A bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification (such as a master's in electrical engineering, energy systems, or business administration) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of experience in electrical engineering is required.
- Experience within building services is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, electrical design, and energy efficiency compliance.
- Proficiency in Revit, Dialux Evo, AutoCAD, PowerPac, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Understanding of lighting control systems and emergency lighting classifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
