Our Client, Kosher Classique Catering, is a catering business renowned for their multicultural team, creative expertise, and commitment to delivering exceptional cuisine and service located at Moorabbin, Victoria. They are seeking an experienced Cook to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative and creative environment, preparing and cooking a variety of kosher menu items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and dietary requirements.

Your duties also include preparing and plating dishes with attention to presentation, monitoring cooking equipment, inspecting food quality, ensuring safe storage of stock in temperature-controlled environments, managing food ordering and stock receipt, and assisting with menu planning.

The annual salary for this position is $76,515 to $77,000 plus superannuation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Season dishes appropriately during the cooking process.
  • Portion food, arrange it on plates, and enhance presentation with gravies, sauces, and garnishes.
  • Prepare meals according to specific dietary needs or restrictions.
  • Inspect food items to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Monitor and adjust temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking appliances.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of kosher menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Manages all activities associated with food services.
  • Manages food ordering and receipt of stock according to facility requirements and relevant regulations.
  • Store food safely in temperature-controlled environments.
  • Potentially assist in menu planning and estimating ingredient requirements.
  • Identifies own learning needs and acts to maintain or improve skills to meet job requirements.
  • Consistently uses resources and equipment economically and safely.
  • Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff and apprentices.
  • Contributes to the development and evaluation of food services with the Manager/Owner.
  • Ensures all goods and supplies are put away promptly on receipt of the same.
  • Ensures all goods and services are dated with the date of receipt, and stock is rotated with previous stock being moved to the front.

Occupational safety and health:

  • Takes appropriate action to maintain own safety and health.
  • Complies with all legislation, facility policies, and procedures pertaining to occupational safety and health.
  • Reports workplace risks and takes appropriate action to minimise the impact of these.
  • Consistently uses correct manual handling techniques.
  • Demonstrates a satisfactory level of knowledge of safe handling and storage of chemicals and other potentially hazardous substances/equipment.
  • Attends scheduled occupational safety and health training as required to maintain knowledge and skills.
  • Communicates appropriately with all staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one to two (1-2) years of experience in a similar setting.
  • Must hold Certificates III and IV in Commercial Cookery.
