This role reports to the Strategic Major Projects Manager, within the Asset Delivery Division. The Strategic Major Projects Team aims to build key larger new assets across Yarra Valley Water’s water and sewerage networks. You will work directly with YVW's capital works delivery project managers and partners to facilitate the successful testing, commissioning and integration of new or upgraded assets into the operating network.
As a Project Officer, you will use your community minded approach and High Voltage electrical technical skills to assist with the successful project management and delivery of new water and sewerage assets, including new Treatment Plant Facilities.
This will include advising from concept design through to construction and commissioning to ensure excellent outcomes are achieved for customers, communities, and the environment.

This role reports to the Treatment Plant Programs Manager, within the Asset Delivery Division. As a Project Officer, you will use your community minded approach and electrical technical skills to assist with the successful project management and delivery of new Treatment Plant Facilities. This will include advising from concept design through to construction and commissioning to ensure excellent outcomes are achieved for customers, communities, and the environment.
Your key responsibilities
- Project manage the delivery of new sewer and water construction projects, with a focus on enhancing the community, while delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget
- Developing working relationships with stakeholders to deliver the best customer outcomes
- Carry out all work in such a way as to protect their own health and safety and that of their fellow workers, contractors and public
- Liaising with stakeholders, including members of the public, on project related, sometimes sensitive, issues
- Working proactively and managing many facets of High Voltage facilities and assets, including liaising, with internal stakeholders, design partners, Power authorities and, delivery partners to deliver safe and efficient electrical assets.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced electrical project managers who enjoy being proactive, use their initiative and takes ownership of solving problems. Ideally you will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to consider the, sometimes conflicting, needs of different parties and work towards a fair and optimised solution.You will have an open mind to exploring new ideas, whilst staying on track, balancing costs and time constraints.

- A relevant certificate and tickets in the management and operation of Electrical facilities
- A great team player who is keen to support and learn from others
- A strong understanding of electrical procedures, standards, policies and practices related to water and sewerage design and construction activities.
- Ability to quickly build effective working relationships internally and externally to influence decision making, negotiate positive outcomes and ensure business and customer expectations are achieved.
- Proven experience in construction and maintenance of electrical equipment and facilities management principles Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Hold a valid Victorian driver licence
- A relevant certificate qualifications and tickets in the management and operation of High Voltage Electrical facilities
- A strong understanding of High Voltage electrical procedures, standards, policies and practices related to water and sewerage design and construction activities
- Proven experience in construction and maintenance of High Voltage equipment and facilities management principles
