Position Overview:
As an Industrial Electrician at Kite Magnetics, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment that drives the production of our cutting-edge material and stator core technology. This position is critical to ensuring the efficiency and scalability of our manufacturing operations as we continue to innovate in materials science and advanced manufacturing.You will collaborate closely with the engineering and operations teams to develop custom automation solutions that align with our goals for high-precision, high-throughput, efficient production.

Reporting to: Head of Operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Build Automated Equipment:
- Develop electrical systems for custom automated manufacturing equipment, ensuring alignment with project specifications and safety standards.
- Install, program, and test electrical control systems for automation, including PLCs, VFDs, and other electrical components.
- Support electrical design efforts for automated machinery, including wiring diagrams, panel layout, and electrical schematics.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical issues in manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for automated systems to ensure reliable and efficient production.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems to ensure safety compliance and optimal functionality.
- Collaboration and Process Improvement:
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, mechatronics engineers, and operations personnel to integrate electrical solutions with mechanical and software components.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by recommending and implementing modifications to improve system performance and efficiency.
- Support the commissioning and testing of new manufacturing equipment and ensure electrical integration aligns with overall system design.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical systems meet safety standards and comply with applicable regulations, including AS/NZS 3000 (Australian Electrical Wiring Rules).
- Train staff on the proper operation and safety protocols of automated systems.
- Maintain documentation of electrical designs, changes, and safety certifications for equipment.
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of electrical designs, wiring diagrams, and testing procedures.
- Assist in developing technical manuals and training materials for operational and maintenance personnel.
Requirements
Qualifications/Skills:
- Certification as an A Grade Electrician.
- Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining automated electrical systems in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar) and VFDs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical and control system issues.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for electrical systems in an industrial environment.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or automation environment.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing equipment and automated systems is highly desirable.
