Haig St. Kirra located in Kirra on the Gold Coast is looking for a full-time experienced Chef or Cook
to join our team! Our amazing cafe offers Breakfast and Lunch, providing our beloved patrons a relaxed dining experience with a view of the world-class Kirra beach!
This exciting opportunity will suit a candidate who is adaptable and works well within a dynamic environment.
CHEFThe position requires the following:- relevant AQF Diploma (or equivalent or higher) AND
Between 1 - 3 years relevant high level work experience in a similar fast paced role as a minimum!
The role includes but is not limited to:
- planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- discussing food preparation issues with Managers, kitchen and waiting staff
- demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- preparing and cooking food
- explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- assisting with selecting and training staff
COOK
The position requires the following:- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) (or equivalent or higher) AND between 1 - 3 years relevant high level work experience
The role includes but is not limited to:- examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
- regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- preparing and cooking food
- seasoning food during cooking
- portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
- storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
- may plan menus and estimate food requirements
- may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
