Microbiology

Position: Grade 1 - Overnight Scientist
Position type: Part-time (Monday & Tuesday)
Location: Collingwood

Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing high quality healthcare throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist to join our busy pathology laboratory in the Microbiology department. Duties will include gram stain reading, set-up of high priority samples such as CSF’s.

Position requirements:

Recent experience in a Microbiology diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience would be advantageous
The ability to work as part of a busy team
Participation in the educational and quality assurance activities of the department
Participation in the on-call roster for the department
Excellent problem solving skills
Understanding of and commitment to OH&S.

This is a part-time position, including public holidays and weekends. The successful applicant will work 11pm-7am shifts Monday and Tuesdays. Successful applicants will have a degree in laboratory medicine (B.App Sc (MLS) or equivalent) and relevant experience in a clinical diagnostic Microbiology laboratory in Australia.

Notice period required to commence employment
Proof of COVID vaccination status.
