About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly and supportive psychology department, to provide a high quality neuropsychological service to inpatient adult consumers with complex presentations on mental health units at Campbelltown Hospital, SWSLHD.

They will have the opportunity to work with an established mental health service, and a dynamic and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team, including nurses, consultant psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, consultant psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, and diversional therapists.

The Clinical Neuropsychologist will be pivotal in conducting neuropsychological assessments, sharing the formulation and treatment recommendations to the treating team, and supporting referral to appropriate services for follow-up. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work autonomously, with support from the leadership team.

The successful applicant will also receive support, peer consultation, and supervision with other psychologists working in mental health.

Clinical Neuropsychology Registrars are encouraged to apply. Supervision for the Registrar Program is available to promote knowledge and understanding of working with this complex client population.

What You'll be Doing

The successful candidate will provide specialised and evidence-based clinical and neuropsychological assessments and interventions for consumers inpatient at Campbelltown Hospital and providing consultation to the multidisciplinary team to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and potential neuropsychological difficulties.

The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Neuropsychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological issues that can arise for consumers presenting for neuropsychological assessment with severe and persistent mental illness, behavioural challenges, cognitive impairment, and/or neurocognitive disorders, and where necessary, appropriate onward referral for management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a high level of autonomy, self-motivation, and organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy
  • Supervision experience of interns completing post qualification studies in Clinical Neuropsychology if appropriate to level of experience
  • Demonstrated experience providing comprehensive evidence-based clinical neuropsychological services to consumers with complex presentations, such as mental health, substance use conditions, challenging behaviours, and other neurocognitive disorders.
